The whole boat against one cabin

Updated 8 November 2026

Private charter or sharing cabin for a family with grandparents: on Soe Besar Vanrei, the whole boat costs IDR 162,000,000 (≈ USD 9,939) for 1 to 16 guests on the 3D2N stay. A cabin seat on the open trip starts at IDR 3,850,000 (≈ USD 236) per person. The seat carries a guide and documentation; the charter does not.

Ask which fits

Whole boat and one cabin, side by side

There are two ways onto the same hull. The whole boat is one price per stay, 2D1N, 3D2N or 4D3N, for 1 to 16 guests. A cabin on the open trip is priced per person on the 3D2N that sails on Fridays and Mondays, and you share the boat with other guests.

The table puts the two side by side: who is aboard, what the price covers, what is quoted apart, how the dates work and what the booking needs. Put plainly, the boat buys control and the seat buys a lower entry.

Only the seat carries a local guide and photo and video documentation. On the charter, both are quoted separately on request.

Eight relatives or sixteen: what each pays

The boat price is per boat. On the three-day stay, eight relatives pay IDR 20,250,000 (≈ USD 1,242) each and sixteen pay IDR 10,120,000 (≈ USD 621) each. The sum stays the same; only the share changes.

Seats work out differently. A Deluxe Ocean seat is IDR 7,750,000 (≈ USD 475) per person and a Master Ocean seat IDR 8,500,000 (≈ USD 521), shared with other guests. Adding seats up to set against the boat sum is misleading, because a family of eight on seats also pays the park package and shares the sailing with strangers.

Per head, the boat costs more at eight and the gap narrows at sixteen. Both are 2026 rates. Rates for 2027 are on request and are never compared with these.

Cases that favour sole use of the hull

Sole use of the hull wins in four cases. One is a party with a grandparent who needs the main-deck Master Ocean, which a charter keeps out of competition. Another is a party of 12 to 16, where the share per head narrows.

Young children make a third case, since they sleep when they sleep and eat food asked for in advance. Non-spicy food, a pace set by the youngest and a stop skipped by the oldest all come easier with no other party aboard. Last is a date outside Friday and Monday, which a charter can take whenever the boat's calendar is free.

The plain benefit is no strangers on the stairs. Nobody is placed in the spare bunks of the Sharing Cabin, and nobody else decides when breakfast ends.

When a cabin on the shared sailing is enough

A cabin on the shared sailing is enough in one case above all: two generations in two cabins, free to sail on a Friday or a Monday, who would rather not pay for sixteen berths. Two parents and one grandparent fit that exactly.

Seat prices run from IDR 3,850,000 (≈ USD 236) per person in the Sharing Cabin to IDR 9,500,000 (≈ USD 583) per person in the Master Suite Ocean, two sharing, 3D2N. A local guide and photo and video documentation sit inside the seat, and the national park package sits outside it.

An open trip needs other guests to sail with. The operator sets the dates, we confirm them on WhatsApp before you pay, and the next listed sailing is Friday, 4 December 2026.

The limits of both options

On either option, hot water in the cabins and wheelchair access are confirmed in writing before payment. A guest who needs either asks us first, and we answer in writing before any payment. Each cabin has one double bed, except the Sharing Cabin, which has bunks.

The whole boat carries no guide or documentation unless you ask for it. A seat comes with a guide, but you sail on the operator's dates and with the operator's mix of guests. On both, weather and the captain set the sequence of stops.

How many other guests sail on a given Friday is known only once the seats are confirmed.

FAQ

Should we charter the whole boat or book cabins on an open trip?

Charter if you want your own pace, a main-deck cabin kept for a grandparent and no strangers aboard: IDR 162,000,000 (≈ USD 9,939) on the 3D2N, for up to 16 guests. Book cabins if two generations are enough and a Friday or Monday sailing suits you. A seat starts at IDR 3,850,000 (≈ USD 236).

What does each of us pay if eight or sixteen share the boat?

On the three-day stay, eight relatives pay IDR 20,250,000 (≈ USD 1,242) each and sixteen pay IDR 10,120,000 (≈ USD 621) each. The boat price is one sum for the stay, so these are shares of IDR 162,000,000 (≈ USD 9,939). The park package is billed beside them.

Does the charter price drop when fewer people come?

No. The price is per boat for 1 to 16 guests, and it stays IDR 162,000,000 (≈ USD 9,939) on the 3D2N whether two or sixteen come. The share per head rises as the party shrinks, so a small party can find a cabin seat cheaper.

Is a cabin on the open trip ever the better family choice?

Yes, for two generations who can sail on a Friday or a Monday. A cabin seat from IDR 3,850,000 (≈ USD 236) per person includes a guide and documentation, and you do not pay for sixteen berths. Take a private cabin, not the Sharing Cabin, if the party includes small children.
