Plan the 3D2N

Three days in order, stop by stop

This is the flagship route, and the stops on days one and two are fixed. It runs Labuan Bajo to Labuan Bajo, with no Lombok leg, over two nights at anchor.

The transect above lists each stop with its effort grade. Day one: Kelor, Manjarite, Kalong. Day two: Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo, then Manta Point and Taka Makassar. Day three: Sebayur or Kanawa, then the harbour.

Weather and the captain set the sequence, and the boat stays at anchor overnight. Pickup and return times are confirmed in writing when you book. Every stop on the route can be skipped by someone who would rather not go. Most of each day is spent aboard, between meals and short landings, with the covered decks for shade.

Day 1

What happensHave ready

Dinner on board
🌙Night aboard. Where the boat anchors for the night depends on the weather and the captain's decision on the day.

Day 2

What happensHave ready
Padar Island in the morning, or stay aboardshoes with grip, hat and water
Breakfast on board
Pink Beachreef-safe sunscreen
Komodo Island, to look for Komodo dragons with a rangerclosed shoes, park ticket

Taka Makassarmask and snorkel
Dinner on board
🌙Night at anchor

Day 3

What happensHave ready
Breakfast on board
Sebayur Island or Kanawa Islandmask and snorkel
Lunch on board
Back in Labuan Bajo, then to your hotel or the airport

These stops swap order with tide and wind: Manta Point ⇄ Taka Makassar; Sebayur ⇄ Kanawa.

Times here are patterns, not a timetable. Pickup and return times are confirmed when you book, so choose a late-afternoon flight home.

Day one entry: hill walk, house reef, bat roost

Day 1, afternoon. Pickup from a Labuan Bajo hotel or Komodo Airport, boarding, and the first stop at Kelor. The walk is short and uphill, graded short, and a grandparent can stay on deck and watch the others climb.

Manjarite is the snorkel stop, graded easy, with the gear aboard. Kalong closes the day: the boat at anchor, dinner aboard, and the flying foxes leaving the roost once the sun is down. In December, sunset at Kalong is 18:14.

Day 1, dusk: the transect so far is one short hill and one snorkel. That is the whole day's effort, which suits a party whose oldest member is not at ease on steps.

Day one runs Kelor, Manjarite, Kalong. The pickup time is confirmed in writing.

Day two entry: five stops and one optional ridge

Day 2, morning. Padar is the optional ridge, and the day starts early: in December, sunrise at Padar is 05:38. The climb is the one real effort of the trip. Whoever stays aboard keeps the boat and the breakfast.

Pink Beach follows, then Komodo Island and a short walk with a ranger. Manta Point and Taka Makassar fill the afternoon, in either order. A snorkeller may meet mantas, but nobody can promise them; the current decides.

So the day holds five stops and one optional ridge, and the grandparent who skips Padar still gets four. Meals are aboard, on the covered dining deck.

Caveat: tide and visibility set the afternoon, and the captain decides the sequence.

Day three and your flight home

Day 3. Sebayur or Kanawa for a last snorkel, then back to Labuan Bajo and a transfer to your hotel or the airport. The captain chooses between the two islands on the day.

For your flights. Pickup is in the morning in Labuan Bajo, so arrive the day before or on an early flight. Book the flight home for the late afternoon or the next day. We confirm the exact return time in writing at booking.

A family with a tight connection in Bali, Jakarta or Lombok should put the flight times in the first message, and ask us before paying for tickets.

The boat price for three days

The whole boat costs IDR 162,000,000 (≈ USD 9,939) for 3D2N, one price for 1 to 16 guests. Eight relatives share it at IDR 20,250,000 (≈ USD 1,242) each, sixteen at IDR 10,120,000 (≈ USD 621) each.

Billed beside the price are the national park package, quoted per trip type, drinks beyond the free-flow water, tea and coffee, tips, and the payment channel fee. Neither a guide nor photo and video documentation is part of a private charter; we quote both separately on request.

Hot water in the cabins and wheelchair access are confirmed in writing before payment, so a guest who needs either asks us first.

FAQ

How many days do you need in Komodo with grandparents?

Three days is the standard, and the pace holds for a mixed party: one short hill on day one, an optional ridge on day two, a snorkel on day three. Two days is shorter, and four days is slower. Padar can be skipped on any of them.

Is the trip Labuan Bajo to Labuan Bajo, and which islands does it visit?

Yes, a round trip from Labuan Bajo with no Lombok leg. The stops are Kelor, Manjarite, Kalong, Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo, Manta Point, Taka Makassar, and Sebayur or Kanawa. The captain and the weather set the sequence.

What time does the trip end, and which flight can I take home?

The exact return time is confirmed in writing at booking. Book the flight home for the late afternoon or the next day, and ask us before paying for tickets.

Which stops can grandparents skip?

Any of them. Padar is the only real climb, and whoever stays aboard keeps the boat and the breakfast. Kelor and Komodo are short walks, and the snorkel stops can be watched from the deck. Kalong is seen from the boat at dusk.
